Byron Sanford is a quick, athletic and playmaking guard entering his fourth professional season after a four-year collegiate career at Trevecca Nazarene. Byron has played the previous two seasons with Silute (Lithuania) after playing his rookie season with BBC Coburg (Germany). Byron has always been able to make an impact on the game no matter where he is playing. He is a do it all point guard with the ability to score, shoot, playmaker and rebounds incredibly well for his position.
While at Trevecca Nazarene, Byron had a career average of 16.42 points per game, 6.48 rebounds and 3.90 assists along with 2+ steals per game, proving his impact on both sides of the court. Byron was named the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (GMAC) Player of the Year in 2016 along with being a representative on the GMAC First Team. Byron was also named to the GMAC Second Team in 2015. Byron has brought that same style of play and success to his professional career. Throughout his three years, he has averaged double digit points each season, including two seasons averaging over 15 points per game while shooting over 46% from the floor.
He is quick and very good in the pick and roll, scoring .923 points per possession in those situations this past season, which ranked in the top 78% of the league. Byron prides himself for never taking a possession off and always willing to make the necessary plays to win, highlighted by his willingness to rebound as a Point Guard, especially on the offensive end where he has averaged 1.70+ offensive rebounds per game each of his three professional seasons. Byron has been recognized in both leagues that he has played in. In 2018, Byron was the player of the week in the German ProB League (round 14) and was named Eurobasket.com All-Lithuanian NKL Honorable Mention in 2019 and Eurobasket.com All-Lithuanian NKL 2nd Team in 2020.
Originally from Louisville, Kentucky, the 6’0”, 175lb Point Guard attended Eastern High School and played four years for coach Jason Crouch. He led his team to 65 total wins over his Junior and Senior campaigns. Throughout his career, he won two regional championships, two Louisville Invitational Tournament championships in 2009 and 2011 and was a three-time All-Tournament selection.
