Chris Dowe is entering his eighth season professionally and will be doing so playing his first campaign for Maccabi Hunter Haifa in Israel. After a successful collegiate career at Bellarmine where he averaged over 15 points, 4 assists and 6 rebounds per game, Chris has carried his skillset across the World to countries such as Portugal, Germany, France, Belgium, Poland and now he is making his second trip back to play in Israel.
Chris has had success each place he has played, making a critical impact that has resulted in multiple playoff appearances including three championship appearances and victories in France and Poland (2x) respectively. He has a unique combination of skills, great basketball instincts and a high basketball IQ. Offensively, he is effective and efficient at both guard positions. He is a great playmaker with the ball in his hands, able to command an offense and put his teammates in positions to succeed. In 2020, as a Pick and Roll Ball Handler, Chris scored 133 points and when leading transition offense, Chris scored 1.27 points per possession. Chris is also a threat without the ball in his hands. As a cutter, Chris ranked in the top 84% of the league and in the top 92% on spot up jump shots. Chris is tenacious defensively. He was in the top 95% of the league in 2020 in defending both Post-Ups and Isolation. Overall, defenders shot 33% while being defended by Chris in 2020.
Throughout his career, Chris has had many accomplishments which include a second team all-league (Portugal, 2014), first team all-league (France, 2016), All Imports team (Portugal, 2014; France, 2016), an All-League Team (Kentuckiana, 2015), Defensive Player of the Year award (Kentuckiana, 2015), an All-Star appearance (Kentuckiana, 2015) and three championships (France, 2016; Polish SuperCup, 2020; Polish Cup 2020). While at Bellarmine, Chris was recognized similarly with All-League nominees, a spot on the Reese’s Division II All-Star team and a Division II championship.
Chris was born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky where he attended Eastern High School. Chris played for Coach Jason Crouch while at Eastern and had success there as well. In his Senior year, Chris was named 7th Region Player of the Year, 2nd Team All-State and was named MVP of the Louisville Invitational Tournament and Capital city Tournament. While at Bellarmine, Chris studied Communications.
