David Nichols is entering his second professional season after dominating the competition in the Cyprus Basketball Division A League during his rookie season while playing for Omonia.
As a rookie, David averaged a whopping 23.8 points per game to go along with 4.5 assists, 5.2 rebounds and 1.9 steals. David scored a season total of 499 points in different fashions, shooting 52.9% from two-point range, hitting 47 three-point baskets and was incredibly reliable at the free throw line shooting 87.6% on 121 total free throws taken. David is a quick, athletic guard that plays downhill with the ability to shoot from downtown, score in traffic and find open teammates. During his rookie season, David scored 20+ points in all but four games and collected 5+ assists in over 50% of games played. His efforts were well recognized by those around the league as he was named the League Player of the Week a total of three times, represented Omonia on the All-Star team and was recognized with three awards from Eurobasket.com; the All-Cyprus League Newcomer of the Year, All-Cyprus League First Team and All-Cyprus League All-Imports Team.
This sort of success was not new to David as while at the University of Albany, he was named to the All-Atlantic East Conference First Team in 2017 as well as the All-Atlantic East Conference Tournament First Team in the same year. While playing his graduate year at Florida State, David played in the Atlantic Coast Conference Championship game and also made an appearance in the NCAA Tournament Sweet 16.
David is originally from South Holland, Illinois and is the son of Donald Nichols Jr. and Ann Davis. He has three brothers, Donald, Kendall and Ryan; as well as three sisters, Brittani, Christin and Erin. David had a standout High School career while playing at athletic powerhouse Mt. Carmel in the Chicago Catholic League. In 2014 and 2015, David was named Player of the Year in the Chicago Catholic League, which is one of the top prep leagues in Illinois. In 2015, David was named All-City Third Team, All-Area by the Chicago Sun Times, All-State by the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association and All-Area by the Southtown Star and the Northwest Illinois Times.
David earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Communications and Business from the University of Albany before going to Florida State University where he completed his Master’s Degree in Sport Management. While earning these degrees, David was named to the All-Atlantic East Conference All-Academic team three times (2017-2019).
