Kason Harrell is a 6’2”, 190lb guard who is entering his second professional season after spending his rookie campaign playing for Pyrobel Killester in the Ireland Super League.
Kason was in Training Camp with the NBA G-League Fort Wayne Mad Ants before ultimately signing to play in Dublin. Kason is skilled, tough and a great teammate but what makes him unique is his scoring and shooting ability as a lead guard.
While at Purdue Fort Wayne University, Kason averaged 10+ points per game during his final three seasons, including 15.21 points per game on 50.4% shooting from the field and 39.7% shooting from long distance during his senior year in 2018-2019. Having started 95 games throughout his four-year collegiate career, Kason finished with a career average of 11.73 points per game, shooting 47.3% from the floor and 40.3% from long range.
Kason showcased that scoring ability during his rookie season, averaging 22.3 points per game, including eight total games of 20 points or more. Kason showcased his shooting ability by shooting 40.4% from long range and was reliable at the free-throw line at 81.4%. Kason was recognized for his impact both on the collegiate level and professional level respectively.
In 2019, Kason was an All-Summit League Honorable Mention and in 2020, Kason was named to the Eurobasket.com All-Irish Super League Honorable Mention.
Kason is originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania where he and his four siblings (Dean, Taylor, Taylor and Melissa) were raised by their parents, Louis and Terri Harrell. Kason attended Hempfield High School in Landsville, Pennsylvania. While at Hempfield, Kason graduated as the leading scorer in program history with 1,905 career points. In 2015, Kason was named Second Team All-State, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette Player of the Year, Pittsburgh Tribune Review Player of the Year while leading Hempfield to a 21-4 record and 11-1 record in conference. In 2014, Kason was named a Pittsburgh Basketball Report 2014 Super Six, Class AAAA Third Team All-State and was the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review Player of the Year.
Kason studied Communications at Fort Wayne and was named to the Summit League Academic Honor Roll in both 2017 and 2019.
